The history of APComm

The Association of Police Communicators, known as APComm, represents the professional police communicators working to support the police service. It provides training for members, opportunities to share good practice, and assists in evaluating what works and why.

History

APComm, formerly the Association of Police Public Relations Officers, has been in existence for a number of years. It was established to support the network of police communicators working in police forces across the UK.

Communication is essential to support operational policing. It can help to develop links between the police and communities, it can encourage people to provide information to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour and it can help people stay safe.

APComm is supported by an Executive Committee that is made up of a Chair, up to four Vice-Chairs, Secretary and a Membership/Treasurer role. Members come from police and law enforcement agencies across the United Kingdom.
