If Carlsberg did internal communications courses...

Taking the everyday lexicon (love that word!) ‘If Carlsberg did’ as shorthand for being the best, then I think I’ve found you ‘probably the best internal communication course’ - you can thank me later!

Let me enlighten you…

I’ve recently returned to work invigorated having attended the APCOM Internal Communications and Campaign residential training course.

As someone who has been in comms for 20 years, I’ve been there done that (including some suspect CPD courses!), so I’ll admit I was apprehensive.
However, I was very happy to find myself taking part in a course unlike anything else - this isn’t like any other Internal Comms course - it’s useful, informative, interesting and gave me some valuable takeaways to use in daily work life.

It also gave me the opportunity to make new Internal Comms friends from other Forces and supporting agencies, which made me feel less alone in the challenges I experience in my Force, as these are also challenges happening elsewhere too.

The days are set so that there are learning sessions in the morning from guest speakers and then in the afternoon you can flex your professional muscle with some scenario training and planning practice, chatting through solutions and alternative approaches and learning in the process.

Also, as a woman in Policing, it was inspiring to listen to and learn from some fantastic female leaders - Helen Wilson, Jacqui Hanson, Rhian Moore and Donna Jordan.

In my humble opinion, it’s very rare that for us Internal Comms professionals there are helpful, bespoke courses for our discipline, so to stumble over this gem was a blessing.

My advice would be run, don’t walk to secure your place on December’s cohort!
