Questions

Who is eligible to stand for an APComm Chair role?

You do not need to be a Head of Communications to stand for the Chair role – you can be at any level within police communications. All you need to bring to the role is a willingness to put some of your own time in, outside the day job, on a regular basis to progress the work of the Committee.

How many roles are there?

There are two Co-Chairs who jointly share the responsibility for chairing the Association. The two with the most votes will be appointed as Co-chairs for the period Jan 2026 – Jan 2028.

What does the role entail?

Co-Chairs lead on the APComm workplan which is reviewed each year with clear workstreams delivered in conjunction with the Vice-Chairs. Although you do not need to be a Head of Comms to apply, the Co-Chair is a leadership role ensuring that the work of the Association is delivered, and that the membership is getting good value for its membership fees.

The Co-Chairs are responsible for the Executive's running and governance which is all shared at an annual general meeting update, usually held at the Annual Academy.

Do I need permission to apply?

You will need permission from your line manager and chief officer, as there will be some travel to national meetings within work time and with travel and overnight accommodation (when needed) at organisational expense.

Who can I contact with additional questions?

Questions about the election or voting process can be directed to Tara Dundon on Tara.Dundon@cambs.police.uk or any member of the current APComm Executive.

Questions about membership should be directed to the Treasurer, Lucy Bogustawski via lucy.bogustawski@lincolnshire.police.uk.
